SENIORS COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS!

The OC Seniors are counting down the days till they can call themselves Oakland-Craig Alumni.

 


COINS FOR A CURE!

Running March 28th-April 17th, the newly formed Student Council Relay for Life team will be sponsoring this annuals COINS FOR A CURE.  The competition will raise funds for the student lead, Community Relay for Life team.

How do you play?  Ten lucky members of the Oakland-Craig staff have volunteered to enter the competition; Mr. Rexroad, Mrs. Kreikemeier, Mrs. Pearson, Ms. Josephson, Mr. Selk, Mrs. Magnussen, Mr. Meyer, Mr. Glinski, Mr. Salvador, Mrs. Reinert, Mr. Long and Mrs. Miller.  Any day during these three weeks students may bring spare change to dump into these teacher's buckets.  Buckets will be located in the elementary and the Jr./Sr. high school offices.  BUT WAIT.....

Scoring goes as follows:

Pennies - 1 Positive Point

Nickles - 5 Negative Points

Dimes - 10 Negative Points

Quarters - 25 Negative Points

One Dollar Bill - 100 Positive Points

The teacher with the MOST POSITIVE POINTS by the end of the 3 weeks will WIN a pie in the face!  See Mrs. Magnussen to see how you can be the one to throw the pie!

Yes, it's that time of year already!  We are approaching the end of the school year and the yearbook is coming along nicely!  Order  TODAY!  The yearbook order forms were sent with your report cards!  Please fill them out and return them as soon as possbile.  They are due in the office April 10th!  If you did not get an order form or misplaced yours, please click HERE for a new one!

SENIOR REMINDERS

Well the seniors can start counting down the days until they are considered alumni! Congrats to the class of 2014!!  There are a few reminders and a few dates that you need to put on your calendar.

  • This is just a reminder that senior t-shirt money is due right away.  Please pay Marilee in the office as soon as possible. You will not be able to check out until your bill is paid.
  • Remember to get your yearbook order form and payment in before April 10th.  Seniors can pick up their yearbooks early September from the high school office.
  • Baccaleareate will be on Wednesday, April 30th at 7:00 1st Methodist Church.
  • Senior Community Service day will be Monday, May 5th in Oakland and Craig.
  • Seniors qualifying for the good attendance program will check out on Tuesday, May 6th.
  • Those seniors taking semester tests will be in school on Wednesday and Thursday (May 7 & 8), finishing those up and wrapping up the final check-out.
  • We have graduation practice on Friday, May 9th, at 9:00 in the elementary gym.  Please dress up for practice as we will be taking the group graduation photo.

MUSIC NEWS!

DISTRICT MUSIC CONTEST

Oakland-Craig Schools will attend District Music Contest on Friday, April 25th at Yutan. A detailed contest schedule will be published in the Oakland Independent prior to this event. We would love to see you at Yutan – please consider making a road trip with us on April 25th! Because the event is held at Yutan, April 25th will be a regular school day for all students not in the high school band or choir. 

ELEMENTARY MUSIC SPRING PROGRAM

On Tuesday, April 8th, the elementary spring music program will be held in the new gym at 7:00 p.m. The concert will feature the 5th and 6th bands;  grades K,1,2 will present songs in celebration of this great land we've come to know as "America", followed by 3-6 with a revue celebrating the MUSIC of our great country.  Be sure to join us for this coast-to-coast musical tribute, "Destination:  America!"

 

MUSIC AWARDS NIGHT

The annual Music Awards Night and year-end concert will be on Tuesday, May 6th in the new gym. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. The high school and junior high band and chorus will be featured on this program. Awards and letters will also be presented, including the National School Choral Award, the Patrick Gilmore Band Award, and the John Philip Sousa Band Award.


SCIENCE FAIR

On Monday, April 28, we will be hosting an open house for our 5th & 6th grade science fair.  It will be held in the old gym at 6:30 pm.  Come and see the projects and cheer on award winners, which will be announced at 7:00 pm.  Thanks for all of your help with the projects.  We’re looking forward to having another successful science fair!


STATE SPEECH RESULTS

  • Kameron Shelley placed 3rd in Serious Prose.
  • The OID team of Brock Denton, Jordan Snader, Ashleigh Carr, Jesse Wallerstedt and Emily Weitzenkamp placed 5th.
  • The Duet acting team of Brock Denton and Mitchell Nissen received two superiors.
  • Brie Peterson received two superiors in Humorous Prose.
  • Carter Thiele-- received two excellents in Extemporaneous Speaking.
  • Emily Weitzenkamp received two superiors in Persuasive Speaking.
